Roxann Norkus Richards, 78, a 50 year resident of Mine Rd in Burlington CT passed away at Shady Oaks Assisted Living in Bristol, CT on April 26, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Her Family is grateful for the tenderness and care she received from the staff at Shady Oaks during her time with them
Roxann was the third of five children born to Steven and Lillian Norkus, whose parents had immigrated from Lithuania, originally living in Maine before settling in Connecticut. Roxann was born in Hamden, CT. and attended Hamden High School.
Roxann was a dedicated member of the medical profession. She earned a Nursing degree, worked as a Paramedic, and served as a volunteer EMT for the Burlington Connecticut Fire Department, . She worked at St. Francis Hospital primarily in cardiac care for most of her professional nursing life, always striving to help others with care, tenderness and respect, before retiring.
Roxann moves from the struggle and pain of her condition to peace, leaving her sister Edwina Norkus Hill, three children, Michael 58, Dori 56 , John 48, 8 Grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and her dearest friend Carolyn Moore. Roxann is and always will be loved and missed. The Family will have a private ceremony & gathering to celebrate Roxann's life. Donations in Roxann’s name would be welcome to Alz.org.
