Ruth B. Lomasney

Ruth (Bassler) Lomasney (92) passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2025 after a brief illness.  Ruth was born in Berne, NY but spent most of her adult life in Gales Ferry, CT, where she raised her family.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents and siblings.  She leaves behind her devoted husband Richard (Tim) Lomasney, sons Mark Lomasney and Gary (Rita) Lomasney, and grandchildren Megan and John Lomasney.  Ruth and Tim met on a blind date and were married for 65 years.  

Ruth enjoyed time spent outdoors and family outings. When her sons were growing up much time was spent skiing and boating.  She was always on the go and was happiest when she was busy and occupied with household chores, trying new recipes and going on walks.  After her husband’s retirement, Ruth and Tim traveled to Ireland, Scotland and out west to many national parks. Ruth took pleasure in completing difficult jigsaw puzzles and displayed some of her favorites.  She had a passion for reading, the Boston Red Sox and UConn basketball.

Funeral and burial arrangements will be private.  Donations in Ruth’s memory can be made to Dana Farber Cancer Center Jimmy Fund or Connecticut Foodshare.  Many thanks to Hartford Healthcare Hospice for coordinating home care services.
