Aunt Ruthie, Teta Birute, spent a lot of time by herself the last years of her life. Sometimes she would sing. Other times, she would yell out and curse because of the pain she was in. During the last week, we had some peaceful time together. At one point she spontaneously started singing:

“Gone are the days when my heart was young and gay

Gone are my friends from the cotton fields away

Gone from the earth to a better land I know

I'm coming, I'm coming…”

Rest in peace, Aunt Ruthie
