Born - June 12, 1945 Died - May 21, 2026
Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Robert (Bob) John Stika. Survived by 2 children, William (Bill) D Stika (Debbie Stika) & Lady Anne Marie Stika (the late Jarran Shadow Walker); 6 grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren.
Sandy was born in Hastings, Nebraska. She eventually moved to Illinois, where she graduated from high school & went on to work at Great Lakes Naval Subbase in Chicago, Illinois. She met her future husband (Bob) while working there. Sandy & Bob got married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on August 27th, 1966.
Due to the fact that Bob was in the U.S. Navy, they moved around quite a bit (including spending 2 years overseas in Haverford West, Wales, United Kingdom), eventually settling in Connecticut.
Sandy had a love of reading & playing a hand-held Yahtzee game. Sandy worked at the Navy Exchange on the Groton/New London Naval Subbase for 32 years before retiring. When asked what she wanted to eat for dinner, her usual response was “Lobster”. Her favorite saying was, “I’m gonna live to be 100 to be a PITA to her (meaning her daughter, Lady Anne)”. Sandy loved watching disaster movies, musicals & dramatic crime TV shows. Her favorite animal was the Flamingo. Her favorite color was purple. Sandy disliked clowns, but she wound up marrying one. There will be a Celebration of Life for Sandy on Sunday, June 7th, 2026, at Groton Townhouse (355 CT-12, Groton, CT 06340) starting at 4:00 PM. Any & all are welcome to join the family.
