Sheena Maynard

Mrs. Sheena (Eighmie) Maynard, of Waterbury, CT entered The Gates Of Heaven on August 11th, 2025 in the comfort of her home with family and friends, following a long fight with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. She was 68.


Sheena was born on February 1st 1957, daughter of the late Harold and Verta Presnell Eighmie. She was the youngest of six children. She was raised in Naugatuck, CT and graduated from Naugatuck Highschool in 1975 before moving to Waterbury, CT where she was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church for many years.


Sheena was an active advocate for both mental and physical health issues, and worked at the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services for over 5 years. She also educated about her rare genetic disorder, DiGeorge Syndrome also known as 22q deletion; and her grandson’s Genetic Disorder Congenital Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. Sheena once joined her grandson and family on a very special trip to Disney World thanks to MakeA-Wish Foundation.


Sheena prioritized Family above all else and greatly cherished gathering for holidays, birthdays and cook-outs. She was a friendly smile and a listening ear with the warmest of hearts and an unwavering positive outlook. She will be sorely missed.


Sheena is survived by her Daughter Cheryle Elliott and husband Andrew Poirier, extended family of Joseph Rene Maynard Sr., her nephew William H Dyson Jr; many nieces, and cousins. As well as her granddaughter Desiree Elliott, grandson Dakota Fortier; her best friends Cheryle Weeden, Maria Dimeo and Louise Laliberte; And her extremely special cat, Cuddles, who slept by her side (or on her head) throughout Sheena’s entire illness.


Besides her parents, Sheena was predeceased by her husband Joseph Rene Maynard Sr.; two sisters, Ruth Ann (Eighmie) Dyson and Linda (Eighmie) Kriedler and two brothers, John and Ralph Eighmie.


A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd at 2pm At the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 668 Lakewood Road, Waterbury, CT 06704. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make A Wish of CT in memory of Sheena Maynard.
