Stephen Mark Gillis, 68, passed away on November 12, 2025, in Hartford, Connecticut. Born on April 7, 1957, in the same city. He proudly called Glastonbury his latest home.Â
For 37 years, Stephen shared a devoted marriage with the love of his life, Mary Gillis. Together they built a life full of family and love. He was a loving father to his two sons: Mathew Gillis and his wife Corina of Kentucky, and James Gillis and his wife Britney of Connecticut. His joy extended to being a grandfather to Isabella, Jasmine, and Hayden, and a great-grandfather to Athena.
Stephen had an innate talent for working with his hands and was especially passionate about cars. This passion shaped much of his professional life as he spent many years selling Mac Tools and managing a garage. Known for his reliability and knowledge, he earned the respect of colleagues and customers alike.
His commitment to helping others extended beyond work. As a long-time member of the Colchester Lions Club, Stephen dedicated himself to community service. Whether organizing events or lending support wherever it was needed, he made a lasting impact through quiet leadership and heartfelt involvement.
Among his most treasured memories were evenings spent by the fire with his sons and always reminding them how proud he was of them and all their accomplishments. He loved spending time with his wife Mary on the orchard where they lived with their beloved dog "Baby" and cat "Opie".Â
Stephen Mark Gillis will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His kindness, hard work, and unwavering support touched countless lives. May his legacy continue to inspire acts of generosity within the community and family he loved so dearly.
