Steven Del Biondo - Beloved Son, Husband, Father, Brother, Friend
Steven Del Biondo (65) of Hyde Park, NY, died June 15, 2020 at Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Born in the Bronx, NY, Steven was the son of the late Livio Del Biondo and beloved Rosaria Albis Del Biondo. He graduated from Tuckahoe High School in 1973, where he was well known for playing his trumpet and bringing the joy of music to all. He later attended Manhattan School of Music and graduated with a master’s degree in music education.
He worked for Wappingers Central School District for almost 24 years as a music teacher. Along with teaching general music, he was also the chorus director at the elementary school. Before retiring, he was a gifted musician who sang and played the trumpet, piano, and organ. In addition to teaching music in school, he also taught individual students in their homes. Steven was also the choir director for Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Steven was also a talented painter, gardener, and landscaper who took great pride in his work. He enjoyed painting houses with his friend Frank. Steven could often be found working in the garden in his backyard, as well as taking care of the plants and lawn. When he was not painting houses or working in the backyard, he could be found attending sporting events and listening to various bands with his brother, Dominick. Steven loved to watch and talk about sports. His favorite basketball team was the New York Knicks and his favorite football team was the New York Jets/Giants.
Steven is survived by his beloved wife, Linda (Marchetti), whom he married in New Rochelle, NY on November 17, 1984; his son Daniel of Hyde Park, NY; his daughter Lauryn and her partner Brian Iacopelli of Wappingers Falls, NY; his brother Dominick, Ruth, Kayla, Brendan; his brother Michael, Roberta, Renee, Nicole; his sister Diane, Bobby, Billy & Kristen, Melanie; and many more cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers-and-sisters-in-law.
Steven will be remembered for the love of his family, friends, students, music, and his incredible determination. He will also be remembered for his sense of humor and his ability to talk with just about anyone.
There are no calling hours. The mass will be held on Saturday, June 27th at 1:30pm at St. Marquerite Bourgeoys Church (138 Candlewood Lake Road Brookfield, CT 06804) followed by a burial at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Danbury, CT.
