Stuart E. Blum

May 1, 1950 – 2026

Stuart Elliot Blum, of New Haven, Connecticut, passed peacefully in his home in New Haven on September 15th, 2026 surrounded by love and leaving an indelible mark on the world. 

Stuart leaves behind his son, Sascha Bienvenue-Blum, and daughter, Vienna Bienvenue-Blum, and his four grandchildren, Kima Blum, Joaquin Blum, Hannah Chaimberg, and Liv Chaimberg. He is also survived by Danièle Bienvenue, his former wife and the mother of his children; his partner, Karen Hesselback, who lovingly cared for and accompanied him through the end of his life; and Jessica Bladgys, who supported and loved him like a daughter. He was predeceased by his wife, Francine Blum.

Stuart will be remembered for his stories and storytelling, his irreverence and openness, his fierce individuality, his childlike wonder, and his extraordinary capacity to bring people together. Most of all, he will be remembered for the way people felt in his presence: welcomed, interesting, important, and safe to be exactly who they were. Rest in Paradise, Stu.
