Susan Azano-Esposito 1945-2018

Susan Azano-Esposito, 72, passed away on October 30, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Susan was born on December 18, 1945 to Charles and Nancy Strange. Susan was raised in Milford, CT where she graduated from Milford High School in 1963. She went on to graduate from Bucknell University in 1967 and later received a Master’s Degree in Education.


She moved to West Hartford, CT in 1974, where she lived until her passing. Susan taught middle school children at Watkinson School, Fox Middle School and Classical Magnet School, all in Hartford, CT, and tutored numerous children primarily in mathematics and Latin. She was a dedicated teacher who never gave up on her students.


Susan loved her family, friends, traveling, tennis, the theatre, gardening and her dogs Azizi and Apricot. She was active in the Women’s Fellowship Retreat and Book Club at the Flagg Road UCC Church, several tennis clubs and groups, pilates, daily walks, and creating a spectacular garden. She kept up with the educational field after retirement and enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, Bruce.

She is survived by many who loved her dearly, including her husband Bruce Esposito, a retired Professor of Asian Studies, her sons Charles and wife Elizabeth, Jeffrey and wife Heather, Jon and wife Bonnie, her daughter Joan Brothers and husband Bill, and her grandchildren Katherine, Brigid, Eli, Soren, Isles, Vivian, Rhett, and William.

A memorial service will be held on November 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Flagg Road United Church of Christ, 134 Flagg Road, West Hartford, CT 06117, where she was a member for decades. Refreshments will be served after the service.


In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hartford Health Care at Home which is the Hospice that lovingly took care of Susan until her passing.
