Sylvia Blamberg
On Thursday April 4, 2024, Sylvia Jane Blamberg of Westbrook CT and Davenport FL, loving wife and mother of two, passed away at age 81. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Piantoni and her brother, Ray Piantoni. She is survived by her husband, Siegmar Blamberg, her sister, Joan Griffin and her husband Bob (Yarmouth, MA), her two children, Stephen Adams and his wife Lana (Stratford, CT), Christine Adams and her husband John Krawczyk (Lexington, MA), as well as 4 grandchildren.
Raised in North Adams, MA, Sylvia graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a
Bachelor of Science degree and later returned to school to receive a degree in Finance. Her early work experience included working at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory in
Schenectady, NY. Later she became Business Manager for the Bolton School System in Bolton, CT, where she worked for the last 22 years of her employment.
Upon retirement, Sylvia volunteered for the Friends of the Acton Library in Old Saybrook, CT. She was an accomplished Bridge player achieving NABC Master status. Tennis, skiing, and reading filled her leisure time. Living close to Disney World in the winter, she often was seen with her husband, Sieg, enjoying concerts, fireworks, and other special events. She loved cruising and traveling. Some of her favorite destinations were Bermuda, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and Italy.
Sylvia's true passion, however, was salt water fishing, which she did with her beloved husband on the boat, "Sylvia J". It was more than once that she out fished her husband, landing sea bass or fluke in the waters of Montauk or in Long Island Sound.
Throughout her life, Sylvia was kind, considerate, and sensitive to the needs of others. With a good sense of humor and an ever present smile, she was an optimist who could search the darkest cloud until she found a beam of light.
Contributions in Sylvia's name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
A private service will be held at a future date
