Thomas Warren Smith (Smitty) passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at the age of 59. Tom was born as the fourth child of Julie and Warren Smith, in Plainfield, New Jersey. Tom graduated from Bernards High School in Bernardsville, NJ, and then from DeSales University in Allentown, PA, where he met the majority of his lifelong friends. A die-hard Mets fan and baseball enthusiast, Tom’s true goal in life was to become a first basemen for the New York Mets, however when that lofty goal did not transpire, Tom threw himself into family ancestry, researching the lineage of everyone in his family, including the bloodlines of his extended and inlaw family members. Tom dedicated his life to supporting, celebrating, and honoring the lives of his loved ones- both during their time on this earth and in tribute to them once they passed on. He never missed an opportunity to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or memory, and to share those days with everyone in the family. He was a deeply devoted little brother, and was the most fun, loving, and silly “Uncle T” to his eight nieces and nephews. Even days before his passing, Tom was sending texts to his nieces and nephews to let them know about the latest discovery he’d made regarding the historical, illustrious blood relatives he’d found in the family’s ancestry line. Tom loved the Giants, pizza (true New Haven style!), photography and sharing old family photographs, jamming out to live music with his siblings, and catching up with old college friends. He was always happiest spending time with his sister and brothers and their kids, eating pizza at Pepe’s, reminiscing about the “good old days” and laughing to the point of tears with happy memories.
Tom was survived by his sisters Susan (Brian, dec)) and Ann Rose, and brother Bob, and nieces and nephews Jennifer, Jeffrey, Camille (Alejandro), Colin (April), Carli (Zach), Michael, Nicole, and Adam. His family takes comfort in knowing that he was greeted at the gates by his mother, Julie, father Warren, and brother, Kenny.
