Walter Robbins

Walter (Gator) Robbins (54) passed away on April 27, 2026. Walter was the beloved son of Sandra Alvord and the late James Alvord. Born on April 9th, 1972 Walter grew up in a big, loving family. He graduated from Plainfield High School in 1990, where he met the love of his life, Laurel Brown. His high school career was full of friends and football! He also joined the National Guard his junior year. After graduating, Walter married his high school sweetheart and began to build a beautiful life. He made many friends along the way. He was a dedicated volunteer in his community, coaching youth sports such as football, basketball, and softball. Known to many young athletes as “Coach Gator,” he made a lasting impact both on and off the field. Deeply involved in his children’s lives, he devoted countless hours to chaperoning trips, coaching teams, building sets, and supporting whatever activities they pursued. 


Walter is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Laurel (Brown) Robbins; his daughter Alexis LoCicero and her husband Curtis; son Zachary Robbins; grandchildren Oliver and Theodore; Mother Sandra (Russell) Alvord of Danielson, CT; siblings Janice Vaz and her husband Howard of Parkridge, NJ; Deborah Middlebrook of Murray, UT; Cris Genantonio and her husband Tony of Bayville, NJ; Beth Lefevre and her husband Leon of Moosup, CT; Barry Robbins and his wife Rose of Moosup, CT; Kelly Alvord Davis of Shreveport, LA; Lucy Credit of Brooklyn, CT; his in-laws the Brown family; and dearest friend Christopher Johnson and his wife Justine. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by child Abby May, Dad James Alvord, Brother Mike Alvord, and Brother Denis Alvord. 


A Celebration of life will be held on May 8th 2026 from 6-9pm at the Music Lady in Moosup, CT
