Wayne Joseph Roderick Sr.

Wayne Joseph Roderick Sr., 70, of Bozrah, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2024. He was born on October 22, 1953, in Westerly, Rhode Island, to Joseph Giles Roderick and Barbra (Dunham) Roderick. Wayne was known for his strong work ethic, deep love for his family, and zest for life.

Wayne was predeceased by his beloved wife, Deborah Roderick. He is survived by his three sons, Wayne J. Roderick Jr., Joshua Roderick, and Christopher Roderick; his daughter-in-law, Laura Roderick; and his cherished grandchildren, Madden, Landon, and Keegan Roderick.

Wayne began his career as a commercial fisherman, but as his family grew, he transitioned to work as a commercial and residential painter. Despite this change, his love for the sea remained unwavering. Wayne cherished time spent with family and friends, often entertaining them with his guitar playing and singing.

An avid motorcycle enthusiast, Wayne enjoyed the thrill of riding and had a passion for fast cars. He was also a skilled cook who took great pride in preparing meals for his loved ones. Wayne's compassion extended beyond people; he had a special place in his heart for animals and often rescued dogs in need.

In his free time, Wayne could often be found fishing, lobstering for fun, or visiting the Stonington fishing docks. He also enjoyed regular visits to the Portuguese Holy Ghost Club in Stonington Borough, where he formed lasting friendships.

In accordance with Wayne’s wishes, no formal services will be held at this time. A private service will be held for immediate family.

Wayne's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Wayne Roderick Sr.'s memory to the Portuguese Holy Ghost Society. Donations can be sent to Portuguese Holy Ghost Society, 26 Main St, Stonington, CT 06378.
