Wayne William Booker, 62, of Wolcott, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, August 17th, at his home. He was a life-long resident of Wolcott, CT.
After graduating Wolcott High School in 1979, he attended CCSU for a short time until joining the U.S. Coast Guard where he ranked as MK3, Machinery Technician Petty Officer Third Class. He wore many hats during his active duty, including law enforcement officer and EMT. He was awarded the Coast Guard Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon (Marksman) and was the Team leader/weapons handler of an Advanced Boarding party.
He was always a hard-working guy – a proud business owner, a truck driver, and Jack of all trades.
Wayne was a dedicated father who would do anything to provide for and support his family, a true hero. He was always there to help when he was needed. His way with words was one-of-a-kind. Making kids laugh was his specialty. He was a kid-at-heart, himself.
Wayne loved boating, hunting and fishing. He would recount many memories with his father and cousins. He was also a dedicated Red Sox and Miami Dolphins fan.
Wayne was predeceased by his Father, Larry Booker and Mother, Sandra Booker (Coulter) of Wolcott.
He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 36 years, Rosemarie Booker. He is also survived by his loving children, Arianne Booker “AB” of New Britain, Robert Young Jr., of Thomaston and Colleen “Maggie” Booth, of Wolcott who he called “his kid” along with her husband, John, Jr. and their children John III, Gavin, and Savannah, who made him so proud. He also leaves Holly “Hollywood”, his companion Bichon whom he loved with all his heart.
He will be missed deeply by many cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends he has gathered through the years.
Funeral services and Burial will be held on Friday, August 30th, at Edgewood Cemetery in Wolcott, CT at 11:00 am.
I will love you forever, Dad. I will miss you until we meet again ❤️
