Born: Twenty Nine Palm, CA
William Allen Miner, Jr., 68, a lifelong resident of Groton, Connecticut, passed away on February 27, 2026. Known to many simply as “Bud” he was a man whose presence was felt wherever he went and whose kindness left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
Bud is survived by his four children, Jennifer and husband Roberto Garcia and 10 children and 1 soon to be great grandson, Kristy Long and her 2 children, Michael Miner and his 4 children, and Steven Miner and his 3 children. He is also survived by his three brothers, Jeff Miner and his children, Paul Miner, and David Miner and his 2 boys.
For 24 years, Bud shared his life with his best girl, Sharon “Shari” E. Dumais, along with her Son Ken and his wife Tammy, their 2 children Brianna and Trenton. Her daughter, Sheila and daughter Amanda, who was Bud’s sweet pea and Sharon's sister Jeannie.
Bud dedicated 27 years of service to Groton Utilities, where he formed lasting friendships and was deeply respected by his coworkers. His Groton Utilities family meant a great deal to him, especially Steve, Ryan, Gina, Dani, and Tina, whom he loved like family.
He cherished the simple joys of life, spending time with his best friend Charlie by the fire pit, smoking cigars, sharing stories, and enjoying the company of those around him.
Bud also held a special place in the heart of his neighborhood and community. He was loved by many, including his neighbors Debi, with her all of her tenacity, as well as Allen and Debbie, Linda, and PJ. His warmth and generosity made him a friend to all.
Bud had a way of leaving a piece of himself with everyone he met. His kindness, laughter, and unwavering loyalty meant the world to those around him. He held a piece of everyone’s heart, and he will be missed unconditionally. He was cherished by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14th, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at St. Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church, 69 Groton Long Point Road, Groton, Connecticut 06340. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember his memory
