William (Billy) Salmoiraghi, age 70, died unexpectedly on February 10, 2023. Born on June 1, 1952, Bill was a native of Plainville, CT, moving to New Britain after marrying Bonnie, his beloved wife and best friend.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, Orest and Elinor (Landry) Salmoiraghi of Plainville whom he and his five surviving siblings cared for deeply. Besides his wife Bonnie, Bill leaves behind two children from a previous marriage, James, and Erica who both reside on Cape Cod, MA, two sisters, Jacqueline of Middletown and Cindy and her wife, Maureen, of Torrington and three brothers Peter and his wife Denise of Colchester, Richard and his wife Wendy of Killingworth and David and his wife, Patricia of Manchester and several nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
After serving in the US Army, Bill set his sights on unusual and classic automobiles. He worked as a meat cutter and was a proud union member of Local 371 UFCW. He found gratification from the hard work he did and he performed it with generosity and caring- qualities he brought home, helping his wife Bonnie with anything she needed including making his famous meat sauce and meatballs which he shared with close friends or surprising her with a pet bunny named Lexi a few weeks ago.
An avid Red Sox fan, Bill would look forward to watching the games with a fresh tomato sandwich made from the tomatoes he would grow every summer.
There are no calling hours. Internment and a service will be held at the discretion of Bonnie Salmoiraghi in the future. In Bill’s memory, please fill a bird feeder or give the squirrels peanuts. That is something Bill loved to do.
