William F. Moriarty, Sr., 91, of Enfield, passed away at Evergreen Health Care Center on August 19, 2022, with family at his side.
Born in Willimansett, MA on August 14, 1931, son of the late Roland D. Moriarty and Madge (Marsh) Moriarty, Bill was raised by his mother and Stepfather Ellsworth (Mike) Raymond. Bill served in the Navy as a combat Veteran during the Korean War. He earned a BA degree from UConn and worked at Mass Mutual until his early retirement in 1981. Bill enjoyed an active life: sailing on the Sound, riding his motorcycle, hang gliding, hiking in the White Mountains, and skiing. Mostly, he enjoyed quiet time in his yard with his family, reading poetry and sipping a beer.
Bill leaves his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Lincoln) Moriarty of Enfield; his son William and wife Jeannine Moriarty of Meriden; his daughter Kathleen and husband Brad Nelson of Springfield; grandsons Stephen Moriarty of Enfield and Shane Nelson of Springfield; and five granddaughters, Sarah Gay of Boston, Erin Hulea of Havertown, and Kelly, Kasey, and Lily Moriarty of Meriden. Great-grandchildren William, Abby, Katelyn, and Audrey Hulea of Havertown, and Selena Mercado of Meriden. Bill also leaves his sister Jean Sullivan of Melrose, FL., and his brother Roy Raymond of Enfield. Bill was predeceased by his children Brian, Janice, and Stephen Paul Moriarty; his grandson Daniel Moriarty; and his brothers Roland Moriarty and Howard Raymond.
Funeral services are yet to be determined, and burial will be in the New Hazardville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
